People imagine themselves every year at the beginning of the year getting in shape but don’t actually plan out how to do it.
Question: How many times will you need to do something before it becomes a habit?

So how do we apply this to exercising and being fit? As an example, if you plan to go to the gym three times a week you would need to go to the gym for over 1 month before it actually becomes a habit.
Does not have to be the gym….find a sport or physical activity you LOVE and set a schedule to do it 15-20 times and it will become natural.
Eating Healthy To Lose Weight
If you have already started to work on #2 (Get into the habit of exercising / being fit) then you’re on a roll. You will DEFINITELY lose weight naturally from exercising and being more physically active!
BUT exercising and being more fit doesn’t fully constitute losing weight and a healthy lifestyle. What other component is key? It’s your daily eating habits or your diet.
Not talking about you having to diet or starve yourself. We are talking about making better food choices. Reducing your sugar, oil, fast food, saturated fats (meats) —-NOT CUTTING THEM OUT—- just reducing them while increasing your intake of more fruits and vegetables. After all, we still need to enjoy our life right?
Why? If you are exercising but still eating fast food every single day you may still not be reducing your body fat percentage as quickly because you are constantly adding more body fat with an unhealthy diet.
Start focusing on a more active (exercise) and healthy (diet) lifestyle and you will be on your way to losing “fat” weight in no time (NOT water weight which is only temporary).

You DON’T have to QUIT DRINKING but if drinking is getting to be a problem to where it is negatively affecting others including yourself then you might want to consider it or really cutting back until it is under control.
Drinking too much can damage your liver and add to your weight so it’s something to do especially in moderation. We’re just trying to adjust the amount of alcohol that we have so that we can still have a great time with friend and family without increasing the risk of our health.
Long Term Effects of Drinking Heavily
There is a time and place to enjoy drinking but also keep in mind the long term effects and how it can affect one’s life and others negatively.
People don’t think about the long term effects of drinking heavily. Short term effects are nausea / vomiting, impaired judgement and delayed reaction time, etc.
Keep in mind that long term, heavy drinking can cause brain damage and affects the ability to learn or even short term / long term memory. It can also cause your heart to weaken, increase in lung infections, circulation issues, stomach ulcers, weaker / thinner bones (prevents absorption of calcium), weight gain, dry skin (dehydrates the body), depression & anxiety and some people may become angry or violent to their friends and loved ones.

Nothing can be more stressful short-term AND long-term than being in debt. When do we not think about money?
We think about it every single day but life is so much better when you have your debts paid off and your financial situation is in order.
Having something like debt hanging over your head isn’t something that any of us want…..it’s easy to spend but hard to pay off.
Don’t let yourself get to the point where “it’s harder to pay off”.

You have got to keep learning. We all have 1 life to live so we have got to make the most of it right?
There is always something to learn and with the internet we no longer have boundaries or restrictions on what information is available because all information is now within your grasp.
Never, ever stop learning new things every year. People stop bettering themselves after high school or college but that point they can basically choose whatever they want to learn instead of following a curriculum.
Take advantage of that and improve yourself all the time.
You probably have a mental checklist of things you’ve always wanted to learn during your lifetime. It would be great to make those things a part of your life right now. Everyone is different so we won’t get into specific examples but you probably know exactly what you want.
Find your interests. Take a class that you have always wanted to take. The new year is upon us so it is time to put the coming months in perspective. Even if it is later in the year look for something that gives you excitement learning it. That feeling you get when you think “It would be cool if I knew how to do that or know more about that”.
Again, what happens when you learn something new? It inspires you. All of a sudden you feel excited because you get “it” and you can imagine more options. It’s all about learning, getting better and improving oneself over time.
More Family and Friends Time
We all know that time flies and when you look back on the year you’ll soon realize that you haven’t spent the time to build your friendships and family relationships.
Can’t tell you how important time with our family and friends is. The more time we spend with family and friends the longer and more fulfilled our lives our. We are happier, excited, positive and have a lot more to look forward to when we build our relationships more.
